Pizza Express restaurant review, Southend on Sea, Essex

Pizza Express are huge now and found in many Towns, so many of you will have been to one. The Southend branch is good. I tend to go to Irma’s in Leigh on Sea if I want a pizza as they are the best around, but if you are in Southend-on-Sea, then this is a good choice. They have a large range of pizzas including the new Romano (thin crust) and lower calorie leggera pizzas (they take the middle out of a pizza and replace it with a salad) so there is something for everyone at a good price. It is modern and comfortable enough with good staff.

We recently had a not so perfect Romano pizza, and they happily changed it for another and gave us complimentary olives and roasted tomatoes whilst we waited for fresh pizzas to be cooked, all with a smile, so I was very impressed by that great approach to customer service. Having worked in the Industry, I am often disappointed by the lack of customer service as I have fairly high standards.

I will be back for more!

Ask restaurant review, Southend on Sea, Essex

Ask are a large chain of restaurants, present in most Towns, serving a range of pizzas and pasta. They are good, but there is so much choice in Southend-on-Sea, I tend to go more to other Italian restaurants. Keeping up with modern life, they have added salads, burgers and other mains to their menu, so they offer something for everyone and the quality is better than it used to be. This restaurant in Southend is often busy, and everything tastes fresh, whilst the staff are pretty good.

It is reasonably priced, has some decent wine at a good price, and is a nice dining experience.

Irmas Pizza

Irmas in Leigh on Sea, Essex is one of our local favourites as it is always busy with a vibrant atmosphere nomatter what time of day or evening you visit, and the food is one of the most consistent of all the restaurants we know!

The main photo here shows the starters – Garlic bread, Garlic King Prawn and Verduras (roasted vegetables)

The garlic bread is a pizza base with garlic oil.

Garlic King Prawns are huge, in their shells, cooked in garlic oil with dried chillis, served with crusty bread – great for dipping!

The verduras are so sweet and gorgeous – sundried tomatoes, aubergine, red peppers – a true delight!

Tonno Pizza – Tuna with black olives, chilli and buffalo mozzarella – a crisp light thin base whish melts in the mouth, topped with tasty tuna and the best black olives with capers.

It is comfortable with a vibrant atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is very consistent and they use very good quality ingredients. The wine list is very good – our favourite is the Amarone – and very well priced.
