Tina Cousins is from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, born April 20, 1971. She started off her career as a model, but is now known as a diva and great electric pop singer. She has had many UK top 20 hits both as a solo artist and with other artists and she is very popular in Australia, where she spends a lot of time.

She appeared on German DJ/producer Sash!’s single “Mysterious Times” in 1998, which allowed her to break into the music industry.

This was followed with the hit “Killin’ Time”, but afterwards, her successes waned, so Tina turned her efforts to Australia where the song, “Forever” achieved Gold sales. “Pray” was an even bigger success in Australia, hitting the top 10, becoming her second Gold single sitting in the ARIA charts for more than 4 months, and becoming the eighth most played song on Australian radio for 1999.

She then collaborated again with Sash on the hit single, ‘Just around The Hill’ in 2000

Tina did not release anything again until 2005, due to record company issues, when she came back with a new single “Wonderful Life”, which was released first in Australia. The release won back her popularity as it hit the Australian charts, reaching 15

Tina spends most of her time between the UK, Spain and the Australia, performing regularly. She has a tireless track record of performing live at nightclubs throughout the world and puts on a fantastic show.

“I always sing live at gigs because I don’t think that you should be up there on stage unless you really can do it properly,” she says earnestly. “People pay good money to come and watch me perform and I’d feel like a real rip-off merchant if I mimed to a track because I think they really deserve more than to have me turn up, pretend to sing and then chip off afterwards like some acts do. I hate seeing big name chart acts miming – it just makes them look bad.”

Fortunately, when she’s not rushing from club gig to club gig, or to and from the studio or promoting her music, Tina has somewhere quiet to get away from it all.

“I live in a beautiful colonial-styled house overlooking the sea in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex, where I grew up and it’s lovely to have somewhere so calm and relaxing to escape from everything that goes with promoting a single,” Tina says. “I’ve planted up the garden and I even did a lot of the renovations on the house myself, which I’m proud of. Leigh-on-Sea is a lovely small town on the coast of Essex and it’s famous for oysters, cockles and seafood. There’s an oyster bed right on the beach in front of my house and sometimes friends and I go out there to pick oysters for a treat. There’s also a colony of seals on the sand banks that you can swim out to or just watch from the garden.”

If you have any updates or photos for tina cousins, please send them or comment below!

Alison Moyet was born in Billericay, Essex and brought up in Basildon, Essex. She was involved with various punk, rock and blues bands in the South East Essex area during the 1970′s/1980′s, including ‘The Vandals’ and ‘The Vicars’. She came to fame as half of the electro pop duo ‘Yazoo’ (with former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke) in the early ’80s and is noted for her bluesy voice. Yazoo was known in the US as ‘Yaz’ and had excellent hits such as ‘Only You’ and ‘Don’t Go’. In 1983, she started her solo career, releasing her debut album, ‘Alf’ in 1984, which was a huge success in Britain. It went to number one on the charts and launching the hit singles “Invisible,” “All Cried Out,” and “Love Resurrection”; it was a minor hit in the U.S., with “Invisible” getting into the Top 40. Alison toured with a jazz band in 1985,which was led by John Altman They released a version of Billie Holiday’s “That Ole Devil Called Love” The group received poor reviews, but the song became her biggest hit in Britain landing a place at number 2 in the UK singles chart. Also in 1985, Moyet perfomed at the ‘LiveAid’ concert, alongside Paul Young.

In 1986, Alison released “Is This Love?,” which became another massive UK hit. “Love Letters” and “Weak in the Presence of Beauty from her second album ‘Raindancing’ in 1997, were also hit singles, with the latter peaking at number 4..

After a period of career and personal evaluation, in 1991, her third album, ‘Hoodoo’, was released, which was very different collection to her earlier ‘pop’ music. She was reluctant to record pop songs just to get in the charts, so made this album a much more ‘personal’ style. However, it also did not have the success of her previous albums – it did not chart in the US. Her fourth album, ‘Essex’ came out in 1994 and then her ‘Greatest Hits’ album was released the year after.

Moyet recorded vocals for Tricky, Sylk-130, Ocean Colour Scene, The Lightning Seeds and King Britt, and was featured on the British leg of the Lilith Fair tour. 2001 saw the release of The Essential Alison Moyet CD, and in 2002 The Essential Alison Moyet DVD.

Nine years later, in 2002, Alison came back with ‘Hometime’ (produced by the Insects), which followed the long awaited final release from her Sony contract, followed two years later with ‘Voice’, an eclectic collection of covers. Her new studio album is pencilled in for release in the summer of 2007

More information……

Moyet appeared in the West End production of the musical ‘Chicago’ in 2001. She played the part of Matron ‘Mama’ Morton, and the run was extended to six months, as she enjoyed it so much!

Moyet has 3 children with her second husband, David, who is a social worker. They are aged 21, 18 and 10 (as at 2006).

Alison supports Southend United Football Club and sometimes visits the West Stand at Roots Hall. Interestingly, she used the ground for filming part of her video for “Is This Love?”

If you have any updates or photos for Alison, please send them or comment below!
